Frequently Asked Questions on Physical Standards
What is the minimum height required for SSC GD Constable (BSF, CISF, CRPF)?
The standard height requirement for General, OBC, and SC male candidates is 170 cm, and for female candidates is 157 cm. For Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, relaxed height is 162.5 cm (Male) and 150 cm (Female). Hill area residents (Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Dogras) require 165 cm (Male) and 155 cm (Female).
Why is 5 cm chest expansion mandatory in police recruitment?
Chest expansion measures respiratory health and vital lung capacity. Regardless of whether an unexpanded chest is 80 cm or 95 cm, a candidate must demonstrate at least 5 cm of expansion upon deep inhalation to pass the Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
What is the physical efficiency race standard for UP Police Constable?
Male candidates must complete a 4.8 km run in 25 minutes. Female candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 14 minutes. This test is purely qualifying in nature.
Is there a weight requirement for male candidates in police exams?
Generally, male candidates must have weight proportionate to their height according to medical BMI charts. For female candidates, state police commissions such as UP Police prescribe a strict minimum weight of 40 kg.
